Two FLEX360 Sites Among EPpy Award Finalist
September 4, 2008
Two FLEX360-designed Web sites, ArkansasBusiness.com and ArkansasSports360.com, were finalists in the national EPpy Awards, which honors excellence in online content.
The awards, sponsored by the Knight Foundation, were presented at luncheon Thursday during the Editor & Publisher/Mediaweek Interactive Media Conference and Trade Show at the Rio in Las Vegas.
ArkansasBusiness.com, a daily business news and information Web site, was a finalist in the category of business Web sites with fewer than one million unique monthly visits. Other finalists in the category were the Euromoney Institutional Investor Online Network and Kiplinger.com, which won the award.
ArkansasSports360.com, a sports news and commentary site that launched last summer, was a finalist among sports sites with fewer than one million unique monthly visits. Other finalists were the CommunitySportsDesk at kenoshanews.com, Varsity845.com from the Hudson Valley Media Group and GoVolsXtra, which won the award.
“We were obviously thrilled to be included among the finalists for these awards,” Brent Birch, FLEX360 director, said. “Even though we didn’t win, we’re proud that our sites are able to stand alongside industry leaders from throughout the country.”
Both Web sites are part of Arkansas Business Publishing Group (ABPG) of Little Rock, a niche publishing company that produces more than 20 newspapers, magazines, guides and Web sites. ABPG is FLEX360’s parent company.
ArkansasBusiness.com contains stories from Arkansas Business newspaper and the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, as well as daily business news and blogs updated throughout the day.
ArkansasSports360.com is ABPG’s newest Web site, covering Arkansas sports with daily news, e-newsletters and blogs. The site has a companion newspaper that publishes monthly.
Entries to the 13-year-old EPpy competition are reviewed and rated by a team of judges from the media industry chosen by the management of Editor & Publisher and Mediaweek magazines.
Other award winners Thursday include The New York Times, USA Today, the Denver Post, CNN.com and the Associated Press. You can read about all the winners here. More on the EPpy Awards is available here.
