FLEX360 Wins Gold, Silver Davey Awards
November 14, 2006
FLEX360 Web Development of Little Rock has won three international Davey Awards, which honors creative achievements from small firms in categories including Web, print and television.
FLEX360's Web site, FLEX360.com, won a gold award in the self-promotion category among Web sites. Arkansasbusiness.com, a business news and information site FLEX360 designed for parent company Arkansas Business Publishing Group of Little Rock, won silver awards in two categories: news and blogs.
Other firms in the competition won awards for clients including Warner Bros., Reebok International, Adidas, Nike, Sony and Nintendo."We're proud to have made such a great showing during our first Davey Awards competition," Brent Birch, FLEX360 director, said. "And the fact that we were competing against firms that bill up to $20 million dollars make those wins all the better for our team."
The new FLEX360.com launched in March with new features and functionality to better reflect what the firm can offer clients. The site's eye-popping design is by Creative Director Mike Ortega, who wanted a contemporary look that set FLEX360's Web site apart from others with a unique use of color and composition. FLEX360 Senior Web Developer Alex Lambert and Web Developer Daniel Van Milligan programmed the site.
"We wanted the new site to communicate to prospective and existing clients the kind of cutting-edge design and functionality we can provide, but in a fun, exciting way," Birch said when the site launched. "We think the new FLEX360.com achieves that goal."
Launched in May, the new Arkansasbusiness.com represented the site's first major overhaul since it debuted in 2000. The new design boasts a greater emphasis on daily breaking business news, Weblogs and RSS feeds, while older features of the site, including lists and other research tools, have been updated and improved. Readers were also given greater control of their user profiles, including username, password, registration profile and e-newsletter subscriptions.
The Davey Awards is judged and overseen by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA), a 200+ member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Current IAVA membership represents a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms including: Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Yahoo!, Estee Lauder, Wired, Insight Interactive, The Webby Awards, Bath & Body Works, Brandweek, Polo Ralph Lauren, ADWEEK, Alloy, Coach, iNDELIBLE, MTV, Victoria’s Secret, HBO, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and many others.
